Print a 4x6 label without a thermal printer

Many marketplaces and couriers give you a 4x6 inch label meant for thermal printers. Move My Label places it on one sticker of a normal A4 or US Letter label sheet.

Thermal labels on a normal printer

Label printers use 4x6 inch rolls. If you don’t have one, you can still print those labels on a sheet of stickers with an inkjet or laser printer. Move My Label works out the fit for your sheet: full size where it fits, turned sideways on US half-sheets, or slightly reduced if there’s no other way.

Steps

  1. Download the 4x6 label PDF.
  2. Choose it above. You’ll see “This PDF is a single label”.

Questions

Does a 4x6 label fit a quarter of an A4 sheet?

Nearly. A 4x6 inch label is 101.6 × 152.4 mm and a quarter of A4 is 105 × 148.5 mm. Labels with a little blank margin fit at full size. If the printed part is taller than the sticker, Move My Label shrinks it slightly (to about 97%) and tells you, so you can check it prints clearly.

What about US Letter?

On US Letter half-sheet labels (8.5 × 5.5 inches), a 4x6 label is turned sideways and fits at full size.

My 4x6 label is sideways in the PDF. Is that a problem?

No. Move My Label follows the page's rotation, so the label prints the right way up for the spot you choose.
